Visiting Someone at the Sumter County Detention Center

The Sheriff's current provider page lists HomeWAV for phone, tablet, and video visitation, and the video visitation page says remote video visits may take place daily from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m., with fees that may apply. Visitors 18 and older need photo identification, children must be supervised on jail property, and visitors must dress modestly with closed-toe shoes. Mail, Phone, and Money at the Detention Center

Mail goes to the inmate at the Detention Center's Bushnell address, and incoming mail is opened and inspected for contraband. The lobby kiosk is also used to place a cash bond, which is a separate transaction from a commissary deposit even though both happen at the same kiosk.

Booking and Intake at the Detention Center

Directions and Visitor Arrival

The Detention Center sits in the Bushnell county-government cluster near E McCollum Avenue, Court Street, and Law Drive, with the Clerk of Court and the Sheriff's Bushnell office close by. From Interstate 75, take Exit 314 for CR-48 and head east to Main Street, then south to Noble Avenue and US 301, then to Court Street, E McCollum Avenue, Law Drive, and E Anderson Avenue. From the Orlando area, follow FL-50 to US-301 and head north into Bushnell, where US-301 becomes Main Street, then follow the same local turns. Because the jail, the Clerk, and the Sheriff's office are clustered, a visitor checking both jail and court records may move between adjacent offices, but each office handles its own records, so the jail cannot pull a court file and the Clerk cannot release someone from custody.
